Convert Word DOC to HTML (Copy/Paste Process)
This old version of the word converter tool will take the contents of a doc or docx file and convert the word text into HTML code. It produces a much cleaner html code than the Microsoft Word software normally produces. Check out the new Word to HTML converter.
This doc converter strips as many unnecessary styles and extra mark-up code as it can. It does not preserve images but it does preserve html links and other basic html formatting tags like bolding in the conversion process.

Changes to the Word Conversion Tool
Some time ago, I revised this Word Document conversion tool a bit and made the following changes.
- The html output now uses the STRONG tag instead of the BOLD tag.
- The html output now uses the EM tag instead of the I tag.
- The html linebreak is now the standard instead of the xhtml one.
- I added copy to the clipboard functionality for the html output.
I'll probably make some more improvements to the conversion process in 2020.
PS. If you're using Microsoft's Internet Explorer, pasting the contents of a word doc into the conversion window can cause the yellow bar to appear at the top of your browser software. Just ignore it, you don't need to install anything to make this tool work.
PPS. I also have a tool that will convert plain text to html - good for those instances when you're working from a plain text file instead of a word doc.
